Alternative Voting Reward System

Recommended Posts

I've been discussing with a few people on ways we can improve and expand the playerbase on Diversity, and I have some thoughts. A lot of people are against having "loot crates" in Minecraft as it will take away from the free nature of the game, so I've devised a different solution. Instead of giving individual players in game advantages for voting, we make it collective. We should reward the whole of the players with collective perks for the month if they make the voting goal, in the same way that everybody wants to make the $300 donation goal at the end of the month.

We could also add an in-game point system for voting that lets players slowly purchase their own trails - the same trails that Supporter+ players have access to. For example, every time a player votes on voting site, it'll give them a "token". You can then use, say, 150 "tokens" to purchase a block trail.

This is a non-gameplay oriented way to encourage players to vote on the server.

The problem with giving players who vote access to perks that supporters get, is that those supporter perks will no longer be unique, thus making supporters feel like their subscription is useless and possibly cancel it. Why pay for it when you can just vote and get it? I don't want to sound money hungry here, all I care is that our server costs are covered each month.

I'm all about giving rewards for voting but they need to be unique IMO and not conflict with the rewards that supporters get.

Anyway, originally my idea was to have a "vote party" every 50 or so votes, this would enable certain perks for every player online at the time, but for a short period like 30 minutes or an hour. Something like potion effects (haste, speed, etc) or commands. There was also going to be a reward for each vote which would be a form of currency that players could use to purchase a loot crate... but if people are against those then I'll scrap that idea altogether.

I know quite a few people are in favour of loot crates, and I dont think i’ve ever seen somebody say that they didnt like it so far.

if you think it isnt fair because it gives us items and takes away from the survival feel, kits were more powerful than voting will be, except voting will actually draw more players in than kits ever did.

Once again, you say that a lot of players are against loot crates, so maybe a poll should be made. I havnt seen a single person say no to the idea so far.

As turbo said, we will have voting goals just like supporter goals, so no, not everybody needs to vote, but it will give you benefits if you do. Also, having it as an individual thing is better than a collective thing because its easy to do, and helps support the server. Getting a random item for voting is also exciting.
