Hello Diversity! It has been awhile since the news team has posted an update. We apologize for the inactivity on our part, and are hoping to make it up to you today with some exciting news!

Summer is here and it's a great time to spend time with friends indoor and outdoors! School has just gotten out so most people have been more active on our server. With school being out, the server can get laggy. But don’t let that stop you from hanging out with old server friends and even making new. Summer is a great time to start a new project! Or even finish old ones.

The one thing we are all eager for is the new update. With the update coming up, it is a great time to prepare a new base. You can even find some friends to make one with. You can also prepare a farm for drowning zombies, so you can get a trident. Also, in the new update, we are getting “Mob B” which is called the phantom. Don’t forget to sleep!.....like we will be able to.

Although most of us would prefer to play on the wonderful server all day, it is good to get outside every now and then. It could be as simple as taking a walk around your community, or as extravagant as planning a trip across the globe. And if you are old enough, you could even get a job and earn some cash.

Pride Month

As many of you know, it’s June. Well, at least I’m hoping you know. In the United States, June is considered Pride month, and here on Diversity, we have plenty of people that are a part of the LGBT+ community.  On June 26th of 2015, the Supreme Court passed a law that required the fifty states to legalize same-sex marriage, which led to June being known as Pride month.

Pride month isn’t all about same-sex marriage; it’s to honor all of those who fought against the hate to get us where we are today! The first gay pride parade ever was held in November of 1969 in New York, thanks to Graig Rodwell, who was a gay rights activist. Make sure to support your fellow LGBT+ members!

Fourth of July

As an American, I have spent an obnoxious amount of time learning about American independence and the Revolutionary War. I’m sure most of you are either not American or have simply forgot, so here’s a little information on what the Fourth of July (also known as Independence Day) is.

It all started with what the Americans thought was unfair taxing from the British. They decided enough was enough, and wanted independence from Britain. Seven years of fighting later, the war came to an end. However, those years of fighting were not in vain. On July 2nd, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was signed. This document severed all political connections with England. Thomas Jefferson thought the second day of July would go down in infamy, but he was off by two days. Instead of celebrating the signing of this document, we celebrate the day it was published.

The finalizing of a document may not be the most exciting thing, but the celebrations are wild. Collectively, Americans consume about 155 million hotdogs and 700 million pounds of chicken on July 4th. They also spend $92 million on chips, $167.5 million on watermelon, and $341.4 million on beer. Some cities also go big for the celebrations. In 1979 Seward was designated "America's Official Fourth of July City-Small Town USA" by resolution of Congress. Seward is a town with a population of 6,000, but that number swells to 40,000+ for the 4th. Even non-American countries celebrate. Denmark, Norway, Portugal, Sweden, and (ironically) England host celebrations as a way to bring in tourists. Some people go wild on the 4th of July, but most people just enjoy a barbeque and have fun. Happy Independence Day to those who celebrate, and to those who don’t, I hope you learned a little more about one of America’s most notorious holidays!

Events!

In preparation for the summer, the staff and news team have worked to make new events for the summer. The first one we have is a build battle. The theme will be anything and everything summer! Ranging from beaches to huge ice cream cones! If you can think it, build it. It will be held throughout the entire month of July! Teaming with other players is not allowed, and 1 plot per person. No alts will be given plots. Plots will be given out for the first 2 weeks of July. To get a plot, ask Snow if you see her online, or open a ticket asking for a plot at the summer build battle event! And as always, prizes will be given! Happy building.

The second event planned is a Fourth of July themed obstacle course. It will be run at 4pm EST on July 1st! Make sure you are ready to have fun with friends!

Well Diversity have an awesome summer! We all hope to see you around on discord and on the server.
