I don't believe this is a Supporter exclusive thing, so the rewards can be as "cheaty" as Turbo wants them to be.

Correct. It will mostly be a voting reward and for leveling up. Probably as a "donation party" type thing for every $50 we get or something.

Alright thank you everyone for your responses, some really good stuff here. I'll list out all the things that I think will make a good pool of possible loot in these crates:

  • Staff heads
  • Player's head - can only give out your own head
  • Decorative heads
  • Materials - iron, gold, diamonds, emeralds
  • Tools - picks, swords, axes, etc. most likely enchanted
  • Enchanted books - more sought after ones, mending/infinity especially
  • Claim blocks
  • Shulker shells/boxes - I don't think giving out filled shulker boxes is possible/I don't really want to go that deep into customising these
  • Beacons/nether stars
  • Enchanted items - non-tools, useless, basically cosmetic
  • Totem of Undying
  • Elytra
  • Enchanted golden apples
  • Dragon egg
  • Brief supporter perks - 1 day, probably
  • Golden carrots

A few notes on the popular ideas:

  • Flying - I know you guys all want to fly but it's just not going to happen, sorry!
  • Spawn eggs - as much as I'd like to give these away (farm animals, at least), spawn eggs allow anyone to change any spawner to whatever mob they hold an egg for. This would cause some unwanted farming as we already have some out of control farms on the server.
  • Spawners - pretty much the same deal as above, we can't have people pumping out mobs like crazy, otherwise RIP server.
  • There were some other really cool ideas but most of them would require a bit of work to make happen.

I also wanted to throw this idea out there - who would be happy to have this system replace the current kit system (as in, no more kits)?

I don't think many people would be happy with that. Quite a few people get their food, tools, ECT. From kits. Replacing a guaranteed chance of getting what you need with a random chance may spark a lot of backlash, and headache for staff. Just my take on it.

Food is easy to get and so are tools, I think people should rely less on kits for these things and be more prepared. I just think having these crates + kits, it's going to be very overkill with rewards and really take away from the survival feel. A lot of higher level players don't even use their kits because they're just so OP and they don't need most of the items anymore.

Sure, some of the lower levels can have access to basic stuff for food or other necessary items when you're starting out but IMO the kits are a bit dated and either need a total re-work or just removed altogether.

PS: nice dab Turbo

Staff heads are no longer going to be a reward.

And thanks, @Ash made it :D

sorry for the late reply, i found this thread but now.

i would like to add that i'm against removing kits, because it would heavily favor the players that reached certain levels early enough to profit from the respective kits. I realize that some high level players don't even use their kits anymore, but i still think it would be highly unfair. :casualty:

I would like to see multiple crates. Each crate consumes more keys the better the loot inside. For instance;

Crate 1 could cost 1 key, and be filled with more common blocks and or collectibles.

Crate 2 could cost 5 keys, and be filled with skulkers full of rare blocks such as; obby, iron, etc.

Crate 3 could cost 10-20 keys and be filled with Very rare blocks and or a spawner, (something simple, cow, chicken, pig,) (not a villager, pigman, iron golem) and or diamonds, emeralds, gold, iron, and heads. You could also put the rare collectibles in this one so they are harder to get.

I would also like to be able to see ar time in the crates so you would get 10% more time than what you have. Not a set time, but a percentage.

Thank you for reading and I hope that you choose something out of my suggestions.

I hate cynical game design as much as you do Imp, but I don't think multi tier rewards are bad as long as it's not "pay to play". These crates don't seem to withhold any game play experience on Diversity whatsoever, unlike battlefront and other games, and it doesn't give players an advantage that they couldn't obtain from other means, so I'd be fine with it.

Anyway, @GrowlingFall535, I doubt vote keys will be implemented because from what I've seen so far, the reward boxes will be obtained from using "mystery dust" which is pretty similar I guess. Also, I like all your suggestions about what the rewards should be except the ar time one. It kinda defeats the purpose of what ar time is all about. I know that its not going to give an unfair advantage or anything like that, but it does feel very satisfying to do /ar check and know that all the time there is time that you've actually invested into the server, and not just a number buffed up by voting.

BTW: One thing I've just now noticed on here is the suggestion that once in a while, smaller, shorter supporter packages could appear in the loot boxes. I know that may sound a little unfair, but honestly, I think it would help Diversity meet their goal a lot. The reason I'm a permanent supporter today is because some guy gave me a supporter for free a long time ago, and after I got a taste of what it was like, I wanted more. Giving players a chance to feel what being a supporter is like for free would encourage them to buy supporter more often. Lot's of other companies do this. It's why so many games or sites give you a free 30 day trial to try out their product - you might not want to buy it right then, but after you've tasted it, you know its worth it. So, good job to whoever came up with that suggestion, I definitely think it will bring us closer to beating that monthly goal, which right now seems to be just out reach... (Of course, we would need to figure out how long these supporter samples should be. I suggest 5 days. Also this suggestion still has one flaw that I'm not sure how to handle: "What happens if someone who is already a supporter finds this in their loot box?")
