Golf Course Warp Request

Recommended Posts

- WARP REQUEST FORM -

  1.  My warp request is for a  PLACE
  2.  The X and Z co-ordinates for the place where I'd like the warp landing spot are x = -83226, z = -56906
  3.  My build is FINISHED
  4.  I have read and understood the guideline & requirements thread: YES

* With this application I confirm that my build is SAFE and no mobs can spawn there. It is 100% claimed by me, with subclaims for appropriate areas. I have spent time and effort making it look nice, and I have placed signs to guide and inform visitors.

* I promise to not pester staff in-game or here on the forums about this application. Instead I will be patient and wait for replies, and answer any questions asked. If any changes to my build are requested, I will work with staff to make them happen.

* If my application is rejected, I won't complain or whine. Instead I will go back to working on my build and improve it so that it can be approved in the future, when it meets the requirements.

* If my application is approved, I won't rest on my laurels but will continue to uphold the standard of my build and maintain the location. If it is a town, I will assist with any concerns the citizens raise and evict inactive or banned players. I may expand as need be, and I will design my spot in the warp hub to match my build.

My build is a nine-hole golf course, the likes of which this server has never seen. Much care was taken to ensure the course's user-friendliness and overall eye-appeal. I worked tirelessly to place torches over the entirety of the course so that no pesky mobs interfere with the golfers' experience. The spawn area comes equipped with spare "clubs" and "golf balls" with a complementary instruction book. Each hole comes with a map and the total yardage of each hole to assist players. In short, I poured an insane amount of effort into this golf course, and will continue to maintain the course as necessary.

A new concept of Minecraft golf :P We do already have a golf course, however it is only mini golf. I'd like to see this as a warp :D You did well with decoration, and It looked like you worked hard on it. I'd love to play it if you ever find me on the server :D Very cool and interesting. Love it! Keep it up

I as someone who has played this LOVED this game it is relaxing and very similar to golf, one suggestion is to maybe add large numbers over the flag to make it more clear to the player where to aim. But, if any staff are reading this accept this warp request it is awesome.

Noted - I'll get that taken care of. Thanks for the feedback!

Several more people have played my golf course and given their feedback since I last posted, so in response I've added significantly more to the course.

Multiple people have reported navigation to be the biggest issue. To overcome this problem, I added a few features:

-Arrow signs/directional markers: To point the players in the proper direction towards the holes.

-Watchtowers: To allow the player to get a more aerial view of the less "straight-forward" holes.

[Figure 1] The player is unable to see the majority of the course ahead.

[Figure 2] The player decides to go up this watchtower to gain better coverage of the hole.

[Figure 3] At the top of the watchtower, the player gains a much better visual of the hole.

Beacons & Banners: To eradicate any other source of disorientation, each hole has a different colored banner on the tee box corresponding with a beacon color. This is to prevent players inadvertently shooting towards the wrong hole.

(On a side note, the course map is much more comprehensible now due to updated 1.12 map textures. As seen below, the course greens and directional arrow signs are visible, unlike last time)

In addition, I thought it'd be cute to add a quaint little town to the golf course. Houses can be bought for varying amounts of diamonds based on size. There's also a complementary pavilion and swimming pool for public use.

Sorry about the post being bumped by the way - I figured I'd added enough stuff to justify posting in the thread again. Let me know what you guys think!

I wouldn't consider this a bump.

To me it shows that you are continuing to work on your project. That you aren't just "Finished and Forget". You taking feedback and making modifications to make it more accessible and a better all around experience.  This whole thread/warp request should be the shining golden example of what warp requests should be. Make the request and continue with the project. Make it better. Prove that you are willing to listen to what others are saying.

I think the only thing maybe this thread needs is some recommendations from some of the people who have played the course. Maybe ask some of the people who you have had test it for you give small, non embellished testimonials of what the course is like. What they liked, maybe what they didn't like.

While i don't have a vote in the matter i can say if i did, i would be highly pushing for you to get the warp. I think you deserve it. This looks like a neat project.

To whom it may concern -

So it's been a while since I last had an update, but I'd like to rescind this warp request.

My interest in Minecraft has heavily dissipated ever since the start of college, and as such I won't be around as much (if at all) to upkeep it the way I envisioned I would. I just wanted to inform you now so that no additional time could be wasted looking into a warp request made by an inactive user. To those who have looked into my request, thank you so much for the time you invested into it, and sorry that this is what it boiled down to.

Thanks for understanding,

What amount of upkeep is required for your warp?

I really think even if you aren't around that this still deserves to be a warp!

I suppose it's not a tremendous amount of work to maintain the golf course at first glance (occasionally having to refill bow/arrow and golf handbook chests, as well as answering requests to join the golf "town"). But there's a few things that I had neglected to fix for a while now, such as the fact that I don't have enough glass to fill in the remaining watchtower I forgot to put glass on, which could take some time. But even then, if this were to get a warp, I would still have to decorate the spawn and consult with staff and do all sorts of stuff to get it all set in stone, which I couldn't guarantee I'd be around for (I mean, I don't think I've played MC at all in the past three weeks).

However, since I think you're a really great guy, and  since I respect your support, I'll head on and put the finishing touches on the course (putting the glass on among other polishing things). I'm just still not too sure what should happen if this request were to be accepted. Would I have to give up my claim to someone else and put them in charge of it? Or what should I do to ensure the supply boxes are always full?

Try replacing handbooks with signs. They're uglier, but nessacary if you're leaving. (We'll miss you!) and personally, I think if you can't afford to bring your own bow and arrow to the golf course, you don't deserve to play the golf course :P

I really don't see why this has to be an actual living town, but if you want it to be, I suppose you'll have to elect a successor.

May I suggest putting a little monument of your time on the server in the town square? I think a monument of some sort should be constructed for those active, contributing players that move on in life.

But yeah, thanks for playing on Diversity and building awesome stuff for us! <3
